Well
that's really weird! They didn't give very many details other than it was an indoor cat. How long have they had the cat? How old is it? Where did it come from? My sister has two cats; one that has lived with humans since kittenhood and another that's an adopted stray (although he's so friendly that he must have had contact with peoople at some point). The adopted stray has very strong feelings about staying in or out at night (in when it's cold, out otherwise) and won't curl up with anyone.
Her Majesty is the most sweet-tempered cat. She gets the crazies once in a while (at new moons and full moons) but I've never seen her freak out. I get more scratches playing with her than trying to give her pills!

Well, I have been scratched, certainly, trying to make a cat do something he didn't want to do.... Or trying to hang on to a cat that is completely wigged out. I think that is what I think happened here. The cat was wigging out, and the daughter tryed to hold it.
I think Dad (? I think poster is a man) is responding pretty emotionally, and you're right... there are a lot of details that would help.
I asked a lot of those questions, but he hasn't come back in awhile since my last set of questions. I hope he doesn't shoot it. It might be a normal cat in an extraordinary circumstance, or it could be insane. My brothers cat is insane. Less so now then when she was younger, but I still can't pick her up. She freaks. But regardless, if he decides it is too insane to keep, I hope he handles it humanely.
