If I manage to retire to rural Virginia, as planned, I have half an idea to put gun ports in the house.
Got a friend in Missouri that had me out to his place tpo hunt...we were in havin' lunch when he went to the loo...a few minutes later, I heard a gunshot in the bathroom...I thought he'd done a Private Pyle (FMJ) as he was goin' through a divorce...I busted in and there he was, still sittin' down, with a rifle pointed out the window...and he said "I got me a nice buck!"...point of my story is, who needs gun ports when yuh got winders?...
I'm afraid of spooking the deer by opening the window. But if I can do that silently, you're right, there's a built in rest. I know that deer walk where I want to build.
It wasn't doe season or I'd have killed her.
It was a permanent stand near the top of a hill, most of the deer follow a creek bed in the bottom, anyway, they don't usually notice me...though I've heard that hillsides can swirl your scent around in odd ways.
