Yeah, I noticed that after my sixth or seventh viewing. I had thought the guy with the spear/sword stabbing down into the orc was Elrond.

Elrond had a sword, but there was a guy with a spear standing with Elendil, facing Sauron. They both get killed, then Isildur picks up the hilt of his father's broken sword and whacks Sauron...

Gil-Galad meant "Bright Spear", IIRC.
