Moreso than the Saudis?

You mean our "friends?"

No, I wouldn't say moreso than the Saudis. But, I think it will be harder to pin anything on them. The world knows Saddam is a wacko and he has no problem publicly expressing his hate for America.

What most Americans have yet to realize (or at least express) is that this is not just a war against countries and against terrorists. This is a war against Islam.

There, I've said it. Call me a right-wing-Christian-fundamentalist-extremist.

But that's what I think.

What? With 15(?) of the 19 hijackers coming from Saudi, the money coming from Saudi, bin Laden coming from Saudi, what more do we need?

The world knows Saddam is a wacko and he has no problem publicly expressing his hate for America.

The loudest bully on the block isn’t necessarily the guy you should be watching out for.

I agree. So what does that have to do with Iraq, the most secular Arab country in the Middle East?

There, I've said it. Call me a right-wing-Christian-fundamentalist-extremist.

No…..must not……say obvious……….AAHH! “You right-wing-Christian-fundamentalist-extremist!”

Yes, This is a war against Islam, if we are ever to really win.

We have, in fact dealt with zealots before. I believe the creed of the Germans and the Japanese felt as righteous as the Muslim zealots feel today when they do what they do. But the world didn't buy it, they rejected it, and the world won. And yet, through losing a war, those peoples abandoned the parts of their creed that made them intolerable to the rest of the world, and today they are our friends.

There is a permission we grant ourselves when we think we are absolutely right. It is human nature to let the end justify the means because we feel that our goal is so worthwhile.

Christians got themselves in trouble too. and the faith had to grow up. Islam will now either grow up, or we will face an eventual need to eliminate it. They may pass the test, they may not. Too early to tell. Our children may not even know the outcome in their lifetimes.

Hi all. Work continues to be very demanding lately so I will be a sporadic poster at best, but I just wanted to say:

Hey Corin! You are a right-wing-Christian-fundamentalist-extremist!

LOL! Now you know how I feel.

I agree with Corin that Saddam has to be taken out and the sooner the better. For Israel’s security if no other reason. But, surprisingly, I don’t necessarily agree that it is a war against all of Islam, yet…. I think it is a war against fundamentalist-extremist-Islam (which, admittedly, is blazing through Islam like a forest fire right now). But really our job right now is to put out that fire and attempt to reason with the remaining rational peace loving elements of Islam, helping them to move from the dark ages into the 21st century, and praying for their conversion as we go.

As Hair indicated above, this process may take quite a while. But for the security of our children and their future, I think our immediate task is clear. We must aggressively pursue the war on terrorism on all fronts, beginning with Saddam, and not ending until there is some real stability in the world. We should keep hammering down the nails that stick out the most, as it were…. And then, when we get to a point of some stability, maintaining eternal vigilance by making sure our intelligence community (CIA, FBI, etc.) is fully adequate to the task. That will be our children’s and our children’s children’s job when we will be sitting in retirement homes in Florida and Arizona enjoying discussions about the Lord of the Rings and the Christian background of Tolkien, etc….. to which subject I will turn my attention later after reading ksen’s fine post in more detail.

Thanks for listening, all…. Until later, Freep On!
