You're right, she is laying down and taking a nap... I guess I was responding to the rumors I have heard on other sites.
Well she took Frodo's place at the Ford (not to mention Elrond's and Gandalf's) so why shouldn't she try for Merry's place? She's already encountered the Witch-King once.
I wouldn't mind seeing Eowyn kicking Arwen's backside in a fight, though.
