I tried it and it worked, like Penny's site, as well as can be expected. I saw no video but at least got to hear the audio. This lime-green POC called an Imac just won't do .avi files. I have to have OS X and all I have is 9.1. Oh well...I hope to get a new PC this weekend.

Did you try downloading Quicktime from the internet and running it through there?
