Hopefully they were able to use the newer procedure. I had the new one, and thank God that I did not have to have the older, far more debilitating procedure.
Corin, do not fool around with this stuff, get the tests. In my case, the gallstones blocked the 'common duct' which is used by the pancreas and the gall bladder. This results in acute pancreatitis, which is compared unfavorably with labor, by those who have had both. The difference is that I had it for several weeks, getting demerol shots several times a day. I was pretty much out of it for a month!
Yes, I got the laproscopy. I now have three neat little scars on my stomach (1 just below my breastbone, 2 on my right side) and an extra wrinkle in my navel (where the fourth hole was placed.)
Now that I think of it, that was probably TMI... but I just finished watching the DVD set for the first time... 6 hours immersed in Middle Earth... and I'm just slightly punchy. Tomorrow I'll probably post some thoughts about things in the movie that I hadn't noticed before... but right now I'm too tired!
