What happenned! I start a business trip on Sunday, get the PC going on Thursday, and the Hobbit Hole is gone! Thanks for the ping, apparently the new software, which was being tested when I left, has required some big changes! I had better go read up on it (I just wanted to say hello first),

I appreciate your tolerance of my sometimes overly heavy commentary (I wonder what newbies thought of my Judas - Gollum comparison !), and look forward to raising some pints on our journey ahead. In particular I look forward to making a toast to Boromir, at some tavern in the White City, to which he gave his life.

To Boromir, worthy descendant of the Stewards of Gondor!

That's Boromir the "Faithful Jewel."

Welcome to the new hole!

Glad you found your way here. Do you wish I had quoted you when you were being silly?

"I wonder what newbies thought of my Judas - Gollum comparison....."

I thought it was interesting. I had actually come up with a Judas comparison of my own...maybe comparison is too strong a word........but when Galadriel tells Frodo that someone will "betray" him....and that he (Frodo) knows who it is (Boromir, of course)........well, to me that sounded Judas-esque.

And of course, what Boromir did was necessary to, in the long run, guarantee the safety of the ring and, consequently, civilization, since it served to convince Frodo that he had to make the journey alone.

Sorry if this sounds like idiotic rambling but my goodness it's late.:)
