Don't go in the water at dawn or dusk (really....that's what they say.)

That's what I've heard. Both of the attacks near us last year (Virginia Beach and Outer Banks) happened at about 6 p.m. (of course where we go is right at the mid-point between those two spots) Supposedly that's when they're feeding and more active.

I've also heard:

I think ultimately, it's common sense. The sharks have always been there and we just need to pay attention. While we hear the horror stories, the odds really are in our favor if we're not stupid.

I've never heard of meat tenderizer for jelly fish stings. Thanks for the tip.

Some people say mix ammonia with the tenderizer but I've never heard in what proportions.

Titanic?

Yeah... don't go in the ocean.

It's worked for me, anyway.
