I have spent coutless hours with tech support at my ISP on this... and searched the MS Knowledge base... and I don't see anything close. No one has heard of it, and that is what is most frustrating.
In short... my browser is sending me to random pages in never never land.

my browser is sending me to random pages in never never land. I think I've heard of something similiar... there is some "ad-ware" that downloads itself to your 'puter, then sits and monitors your http requests and redirects them to advertiser sites. There is software available to detect and remove these annoying things, but I don't recall the name of it... I'll do some looking around in Google and get back to you.

Oh dear, I think I remember you mentioning that once before. Just off the top of my head, I would say that you picked up something off the 'net that is now residing on your computer and doing this. Basically sounds like a virus of some sort....
My experience with ISP tech support is ithat they have no idea what you're talking about if your problem doesn't fit into the "top 10 problems first-time users have." And the MS knowledge base hasn't been very helpful for me in the past either, so don't lose heart over them not helping you. It doesn't necessarily mean that your problem is too rare for people to be able to help.
Now, off I go...I'll be back in a while...
