Thanks, even the ROTK is there!

I tried that but I can't post Javascript or applets on FR.

I think there is a major difference in the enemy. Pearl Harbor was attacked by a definable government coming from a particular place. There was no question who we were fighting.I agree.
This time around, we are being attacked by a nebulous enemy with no borders, no ID cards and no uniform. Who the enemy actually is, and the definition of victory, depends on who you ask, and there is no one person who can declare it to be over and surrender. We are fighting an ethos not a country.
I have to disagree with you on this. We know who are the major exporters of this type of "ethos". Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, SAUDIA ARABIA, all of these countries provide the people the money and the impetus for the terrorists to do what they do.
The enemy is definable, in fact our president has defined them. I just don't see a willingness to go after them with everything we have.

I understand your point, but we can't just attack all the Muslim nations.... we have to go after the actual terrorists, and the countries that refuse to stop harboring them. We can't just blow Mecca off the face of the earth, it really wouldn't help us.

You know, I don't think I want to be anywhere near this thread when 10,000 comes within reach. It could get ugly.

It could get ugly. Kevin, I know ugly. Ugly is a friend of mine. (he posts on the religious wars)
This is not ugly...

We need to go after those who actually struck at America."
I didn't say "all" Muslim nations. I specifically mentioned Iran, Iraq, SAUDI ARABIA, Libya, and Syria. I would wager that if you topple those regimes and replace them with constitutional governments, like we did in Japan, that you would see a radical lowering of terrorist activity.

Oh yeah? Just wait until about post #9,980 or so. ;^) I'm hoping to be by the beach or by the pool, taking HOTD's advice.
Actually, the siding crew finishes my house today. Then I have to paint windows, put the storm windows back and work on the landscaping...
I'll not have much time for freeping.

In WW2, we were fighting other countries, other governments. Here we are fighting, well, a bunch of people who hate us, some of whom are hiding and others who haven't actually declared their intent to kill us yet. Sure, it stinks that we have to have moral superiority, but for some reason we do...
Mecca != Hiroshima

BTW, have fun out in the yard, it's supposed to be in the lower 90's here in central Florida today.

Sure, it stinks that we have to have moral superiority, but for some reason we do...These other countries are hiding behind the anonymity of their terrorist puppets. We know how is behind most the terrorist groups, who finances them, who gives them intelligence (data, not smarts).
The people behind the terrorist front groups are countries, and we know who they are. We should not be afraid to take the war to them. We could pierce that veil of secrecy if we wanted to, for some reason we don't want to.
Mecca != Hiroshima
I would only advocate this as an extreme last measure. (Actually I would recommend conventional weaponry instead of nukes if the time ever came.)

Well, I am off! - I am afraid I will have to leave you all to solve the Middle East. Let me know how it comes out!

Well, I am off! - I am afraid I will have to leave you all to solve the Middle East. Let me know how it comes out! Drive safe and have fun in The Grey Havens. Check in when you can.
I'll try to talk more Middle-Earth rather than Middle East.
BTW, I heard that the Mediterranean Sea could be interpreted into English as the "Sea of Middle Earth". Pretty neat, huh?
