Do you have one of those? No, it represented about half a month's take home pay. I saw ads in 'Analog Science Fiction Magazine', it was actually 1963, I think.

But after all, at least you can remember when Star Wars was cool! Yes, it was way cool. And I love the new ones just because I enjoy seeing them with my son. (He's 13 and dad is still "okay" to be seen with).
I tell people George Lucas (and the grace of God) saved my son's life. It was his 7th birthday and he had gotten a toy light saber. Mom had to go out of town so I was taking him to play putt-putt. I told him if he was going to take the light saber he had to sit in the back seat of my Honda Civic (hatchback). I was talking to him, or was distracted or something, but I ran a red light and we were broadsided by a truck. We were both banged up but not seriously injured. My wife went to the junkyard and took pictures of the car. Had he been in the front where he normally road, he would have died.

I was 20 myself, and remember when a calculator could add, subtract, MULTIPLY and DIVIDE, was MECHANICAL, and could be purchased in engineering magazines for 400 1964 dollars. Okay, you win.

Okay, you win.So what do I win? Dinner with Arwen, perhaps?
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Um... sure, since your memory is no doubt such that by the time you should be on said date you'll have forgotten it!
Just kidding. I feel kinda silly today for some reason. Must have been the popcorn!

So what do I win? Dinner with Arwen, perhaps? If that's the prize, I want a rematch.

Must have been the popcorn! What did you see?

Star Wars followed by Spiderman. That's almost five hours of celluloid. My brain overloaded. Gotta go read Plato or something.

What did you think? My son has youth choir concerts this weekend (they do one for the church, one for the community), so we'll have to wait later to go see Star Wars.
We saw Spiderman the weekend it opened. It was fun.
To: Corin Stormhands
Spiderman was cool! And I'm not even a comic fan. Star Wars was... kinda lame, I talked about it some back around 5590 or so.

Yeah, we liked Spiderman. And I'm sure my son will probably rave about AOTC. But just like he did with Harry Potter, he'll forget about it when The Two Towers comes out...
To: Corin Stormhands
Huh? They made Harry Potter into a movie? Oh wait, didn't that happen back before FotR? Sorry, my memories of that period are kinda fuzzy.

Imagine how I felt when at the end of LOTR, my son said "This is better than Harry Potter. I'm going to read the books."

I'm here, but I'm fading fast. Wonder if it has to do with this shiny thing I picked up earlier today...
To: Corin Stormhands
Shiny black thing? - Let's see... is it a .357 revolver? - A Labrador Retriever? An 8-ball? - A big monolith like in the beginning of 2001: A Space Odyssey? Is the answer in the thread somewhere and I missed it?
To: Corin Stormhands
Wow - I am tired... you didn't even say shiny
black thing... you just said shiny thing... I just read it wrong! - No I am not drunk!
Now I know what you are talking about. Put it down... never put it on!
