I like a few troublemaker friends!... and I think maybe you are in that category!.. Out carousing in all the bitter mean argumentative threads all the time...

But about moderated threads. I know you think it is a good idea, but I dunno... not sure I want it really... Sounds like a disaster to me. People will just start editing out all the people who disagree... I don't want to take the heat for deleting posts, and then have to delete the posts complaining about deleted posts... the moderators have an unpopular job. They are anonymous for a reason!

My understanding, based on what John Robinson posted last year, is that there will be private threads and/or forums on FR, which will require permission from the moderator to post on at all, rather like the Yahoo Hobbit_Hole. No editing of posts would normally be involved. I am pinging JohnRob in case in wants to update my understanding of this.

Well LCS, I will break out some pints for him if he comes, but I dunno about that idea either. We are already kinda fragmented the way things are. It is working, and I like it, but I don't know if we really would keep enough interest/traffic in more super-specialized forums.

Perhaps it was just the reminder that I got from your link of the unpleasant associates who followed me here. Maybe just the ability to ban posters from a thread would be sufficient, without the other problems you mention. If this facility was known to exist, it might be enough to prevent unpleasantness, without actually using it. Sort of like the fact that a private club can kick out an unpleasant guest prevents a lot of folks from getting unpleasant.

You are awfully serious tonight! Did you ever get your computer fixed so it would play the movie right? I think I am going to watch it when I hit the couch.

My cat needs to go on a diet. I leave a window open so he can jump in and out... he gets out just fine, but he is starting to not be able to make the jump to come back in... He just slams into the wall too short to make it, and slides all the way back down, screeeeeetching with his claws :~)
