Orc Scouts?
To: Overtaxed
Yeah - there were orc-scouts.

Making a run for it OT? Who? Me?

The Wild Men look like a great visual creation. In my recent experience, this is exactly what they look like.

Hehehe....personal experienc, huh?
To: Overtaxed
"experience", that is.

I always thought the Fire of Orthanc was gunpowder. But if it were a metal like phosphorus, it would work in waterI always thought that the Fire of Orthanc was like Greek (Byzantine) fire, exact composition still a successfully guarded military secret. Thought to include both sulfur and charcoal, it could float on water and keep burning, very nasty in a battle with wooden ships. Probably gave the Empire an extra few centuries at least.

See, I always thought it was some nasty magic stuff, really, but I'd voted for Greek Fire over gunpowder.

I was thinking along that line. I guess Saruman had Doppler Radar to know that he would need it at Helm's Deep.

My 2 year old 17 inch monitor failed a couple of weeks ago, I have had to fall back on a 14 inch monitor build about 10 years ago, and I don't have the card correctly configured to work with it. I didn't change anything from the previous setting.
Wish I could see that picture, it sounds lovely, like young Queen Elizabeth, which you remember is Galadriel's (Cate Blanchett's) Academy Award winning (?) part.

See, I always thought it was some nasty magic stuff Would Saruman trust his orcs with magic stuff?

I guess I am surprised the wild men are even included in the movie. I almost forget they in the story until I get there. I am surprised they didn't get the Bombadil treatment.

Hehehe....personal experienc, huh?Ask Hair, I have talked about this enough in Freepmail last 2 days, I am working at strengthening my resolve. But will stoke my anger on a later occasion, if it is necessary.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Well, you are going to want to solve the monitor situation fast so you can watch the movie during our chat/views! If you can't see that picture of Arwen, you are going to have to imagine Bree and Moria from memory!

I guess Saruman had Doppler Radar to know that he would need it at Helm's Deep.Doppler Radar, didn't they use to call that a palantir?
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Sunny happy thoughts LCS.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
I thought the palantir just did communicating...didn't know they detected weather events too.
To: Overtaxed
I don't think he could control what the pilantir showed... I think it was a little like when I lost the remote for my TV and it was stuck on MSNBC for four days.

I am surprised they didn't get the Bombadil treatment. Bombadil's character dominates his chapters, and does not substantially advance the plot. The Wild Men are just another group of good guys, who are a good explanation of how to get past the guard at Minas Tirath.
Does anyone know if they are going to include the 'undead' warriors, the ones who were called to fulfil their oaths. They were creepy, but were a good way to remind people of the level of crisis that Middle Earth was in, and the penalty for not doing what you had sworn to do. Would kind of like seeing X-42 as one of these perjured chiefs, at last earning a peaceful repose.

hhmmm... I think I recall that they do right the paths of the dead, but not till RoTK.
