Right at the end of the FOTR, when Aragorn is saying "We will not abandon Merry and Pippin to torment and death", I love the look that Gimli and Legolas give each other. Very respectful of each other...and a hint of growing friendship.

And of course we've seen the TT picture with Gimli sitting behind Legolas on the horse. PJ obviously didn't blow it off...I'm anxious to see what he has done, too!

Wow, we've nearly caught up with the NZ Builds Hobbit Hole thread!

I learned that trick from HairOfTheDog, I saw her do it once. ;^)

The Precious was claimed for all those looked down on by the good folk of Middle-Earth, the Smeagols and the Boromirs of the world. DUCK!

I had just gone to the recent posts and was going to come back with it also. Sounds silly to me.

Yeah, it sounds silly to me too. Heck don't rename the movie, make the name and title a tribute...

Thanks, I'd missed that somehow. I can't decide whether to laugh or cry at the stupidity of it all.

I know, you're right, I think sometimes I switch to a "cup is half-empty" kind of guy.

Wow, we've nearly caught up with the NZ Builds Hobbit Hole thread!

I think HOTD should have the honor of making the post that officially puts us over the top.

Linking both here and at the original thread - Anti-Hobbit Bigots Can't Even Read, Let Alone Use Logic - note the petition-host people have a disclaimer up saying it's nonsense! Also look at how many signatures are 'void'. See if we can get a few signatures on...

Hehehe - this is best page of the petition I've come across... it looks like there aren't more than fifteen idiots who've come across this thing so far.

From the PetitionOnline website:

Please Note: The Two Towers is the title of the JRR Tolkien book originally published in 1954, the second book of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The title was thus established some 47 years prior to the attacks on the World Trade Center towers, and there is no evidence to suggest that Peter Jackson meant anything by continuing the same title other than faithfulness to the beloved Tolkien classics. Furthermore, the two distant, opposing towers in the Tolkien classic have very little if anything in common with the two matching towers of the World Trade Center. — PetitionOnline.com

"...the two distant, opposing towers in the Tolkien classic have very little if anything in common with the two matching towers of the World Trade Center."

No kidding.

Well, you know PJ made a big deal out of the elf/dwarf argument at Elrond's council. Then, he shows a little warming up between the two, in the Mines when Gimli says "Soon Master Elf, you will experience the hospitality of the dwarves..." or something like that. So, even before the scene at Amon Hen...PJ has set the stage for the duo to become fast friends (as Tolkien refered to them) in the TT.

Oh, I just can't wait!!
