Nasty, cruel, rude hobbits! Won't let Smeagol have the Precious!
To: irishtenor;Penny1
Wasn't last night the night you were going to watch the film with her? - Did you go? - How was the movie?
To: HairOfTheDog
Same as last time. Haha. It was great to see it again after I read the books for the first time in 30 years. We went to dinner afterwards and discussed all of the failings. I was really bummed about them not showing all of the gift giving. Sam should have his Elvish soil. Penny brought her resourse book:>)
To: irishtenor
He will have is Elvish soil in November when the extended DVD comes out!

I know.. and where would those silly hobbits be without Smeagol! (besides dead and eaten)
To: carton253
Ungrateful hobbits! All Smeagol wants is the Precious.

Happy Birthday to You!Good morning everyone! I just got up and am fiddling with the new machine before Matthew takes it over. I love it! It's so fast! I better drink some strong coffee to keep up!
To: HairOfTheDog
Do you think Sam really will get his elvish soil since (spoiler, highlight to read): the Scouring of the Shire is out? :(
To: irishtenor; Hairofthedog
Believe me, Hair, this is only the beginning....he gets much worse than that... ;)
To: HairOfTheDog
The best part was I found out Mrs. Irishtenor is an Aragorn fan.
Hehehe....

Spoiler alert? - Bah humbug! Well, if they include the gift scene, Galadriel has to give him something, so why not the soil? The seed and the soil are really unrelated to the scouring. They do return to the Shire at the end, methinks, because we have seen the little shot of Sam and little Elanor, so he has a place to plant it, whether it happens "off-screen" or not.

Happy, Happy Birthday, Jen!
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, that's true...
I just am worried that PJ might decide to just give Sam the elvish rope and have that be his gift. I hope he gets his soil, though...at least we only have to wait till November to find out about that!
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh, and I should have added, the whole reason for the seed and soil is to recover and replenish The Shire after the scouring is over. Otherwise, the gift doesn't have quite the same impact, it becomes rather incidental to the story in that case....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENB!!!
(Sorry I'm late, but Carton kicked in my TV set!--[ask him why -- something to do with Hasan Abdel Rahman])
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Sorry about your t.v. set, but I can't stand to see the liberal press fawn all over Arafat and not even call him on his lies. I am tired of Israel being the "bad" guy. I am worried that most Americans do not understand what is at stake in the war on terrorism and because they don't understand, the war may not be fought.
I am tired of watching those Towers come down and people dying... (I still haven't recovered from that day. I don't know if I will ever recover) and the press making all kinds of excuses for Arafat -- who is a terrorist!
Sorry, didn't mean to get into such a political heated rant.

Sorry, didn't mean to get into such a political heated rant.A good rant, and well worth a virtual TV set. If no one else is around here, I guess it is time for us to take up our axes, and use them to remove some Islamist orcish heads.

Did you watch Nova last night? They had an hour long show on what caused the Towers to fall.
They had the original engineer on. His office overlooks Ground Zero. He told the camera that everytime he looks out the windows, he sees his towers on fire and the people who are trapped. And he can't get rid of that image. He was so guilt ridden.
I wanted to jump in the t.v. and tell him it wasn't his fault. When he built the towers in 1967, there was no way he could have imagined homocidal bombers turning planes into bombs and crashing into them.
There was a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on. Fire protection, bolts, etc. As if these things were to blame and not the terrorists.
Then, toward the end, an engineer came on and said the real testament to the design of the Towers is they remained standing for so long and allowing 12,000 people time to escape.

You still watch/listen to the liberal press??
To: Overtaxed
I do watch from time to time CNN and MSNBC... I read the newspaper (but I do not watch any of the major networks). I watch anything and everything Benjamin Netanyahu is on and too see him have to defend against the indefensible makes me mad.
Now, I have to admit my viewing goes until their liberal slant inflames me. Sometimes the anchors on CNN and MSNBC can inflame me with their opening remarks.
I can't watch O'Reilly anymore. Watching him pontificate against Bibi was too much.
