Like the AFL-CIO, the NEA, etc.?
Though JFK was a Democrat, I don't believe he was a leftist, like today's Democrats are, including Ted.
Rush made a good point awhile ago, which is that "special interests" are what America, with freedom of the individual, is all about. It's socialism where, instead of following their own dreams, the people must all work together in pursuit of the "official" dream.
Anyway, I'm glad I don't have to take a course with your professor.
A replay of one of my favorite C&H cartoon...
Calvin and Hobbes are standing next to the toaster. Calvin puts in 2 slices of bread.
Next frame, the bread pops up all toasted...
Last frame, Hobbes: "That's amazing."
Calvin: "I wonder where the bread went..."
Then there is this cartoon...
Calvin climbs out his bedroom window down a sheet ladder. The caption tells us its three o'clock in the morning
Next frame: Calvin is at a pay phone dialing a number.
Last frame: Father, half-asleep, picks up the phone... Calvin's voice: Hey dad, its 3:00 in the morning. Do you know where I am?
They crack me up!
yuh know, what really gets my knickers in a bind (if I ever wore any ) is that libs forget or overlook that it was a Democratic administration that got us mired into Vietnam, lied about troop strength, lied about bombing Laos and Cambodia, tied the military's hands, sponsored some heinous acts in SEA...
Will try to do that. I don't have an "official" ping list. 'bout all I can muster in the a.m. is to scan and see who is already up...
Mornin' IOTN!
I agree Sam. Although the world certainly would have viewed him differenlty if he hadn't been shot.
Maybe he was doing acid and that's when his brain froze.
And this country's media still carries a torch (based now on a rewrite of history) for JFK.
Like the mob?
Funny problems with the TT trailer in Japan!
Japan: Trailer Twisted in Translation
Tehanu @ 12:06 am ESTLast month Japanese fans were relieved to see the subtitles in FotR DVD were repaired considerably to what they had been in the film version. Now they are tortured again.
"On October 18th, the new TTT trailer was released by the Japanese distributor on the Web. Dubbed version was good, but those who love the actors' own real voices chose the other version with subtitles---and they found a familiar frustration. [Eowyn says] "Preparations? Warning?" No viewer can possibly imagine Eowyn here is really saying, "They were unarmed. They had no warning."
Another example. Sam : Wonder if this is the way Gandalf meant? (Note that "We're lost" is eliminated) Frodo: Everything is unpredictable. "This is a Zen dialogue, not a translation at all," exclaims an ex-leader of Petition for Better Subtitles in FotR. What's in Frodo's mind here is the tragic fall of Gandalf, but these subtitles ignore it. Such were the lines that filled FotR when seen in theaters. And Nippon Herald, the distributor, declares that the same subtitler will stay in her position.
A group of fans have started preparing a new petition. "How we wish we didn't have to do this," says another leader. "All we ask is: Just show us what is being said. Why should it be so difficult?"
But, in all fairness, I liked RFK. I wouldn't have voted for him, but I liked him. And I liked JFK, too. Though my parents voted for Nixon.
Like my Dad said: "The only thing he ever did was get himself shot".
I agree. And Jackie helped to enhance the myth of Camelot...
More of us need to do that!
