So you mean the SW portion of the most SE place in the whole country! Heh.

YOU GOT IT!
Sam Cree can attest to the fact that Kendall has the WORST traffic in all of Florida. Absolutely terrible!
But, you can drive 25 minutes and be on the beach. That's a really nice perk to living here.

You can count on the dwarves storming back inhere just in time to snaig it from you!
Your birthday present is history.

Traffic -- the worst traffic I've ever been in is when I lived in Bangkok. It could take 2-1/2 hours to go 10 miles. One way. So, it could take all day to run an errand. I absolutely hated it.

I'm shaking in my boots.... wobbly Smeagol. Stickses his tongue out at dwarf... Ack! Dwarf! Precious is mine. Stolen from me by Baggins... "What's he got in his pocketses..." That's not a questions. he trickses me. Precious is mine!

I'd be coming from Melbourne/Palm Bay. I've never been to Miami, I'm assuming it would take 3 to 4 hours to get to where you two live.
I know there is a Miami sign on 95 near my exit that says "Miami 175 miles". However I am assuming that SW Miami is a bit further away.

Busy weekend I hope means good weekendYes, actually it was good... I got my new computer set up on Saturday. Unfortunately it still doesn't have a modem, so no Internet access from it. I still have the old one set up too, I'm switching the monitor back and forth between them, when I need to go online.
We bought ourselves a new game called Empire Earth for the new computers (it's too complex to run on the old ones). Very much like Age of Empires and very addictive! In fact, that's what I was doing most of the weekend....

From entering Miami to Kendall isn't really that bad. Especially if you take 95.
I95 ends on US1 (South Dixie Highway) just outside downtown Miami. If you continue south on US1, you will reach Kendall Drive in about 15-25 minutes depending on traffic.

What kind of a game is Empire Earth? - Is it an adventure game? I am not familiar with Age of Empires... But I have played some of the highly graphic (read: violent) games like Unreal Tournament and Quake.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I still like good ol' Nethack...bet no one here even knows what that is!
To: HairOfTheDog
Okay... I'm back. Smeagol has a cold. Ack! Post nasal flood something serious.

how many "ancient artifact turns out to be magic weapon/portal" stories does the world need?I think it makes a good basis for a novel! Remember, there are no original plots any more... what makes a novel memorable are the quality of the writing, and the characters (IMHO).

I've seen
Empire Earth in stores. Is it any good?
Right now Civ:II is my game of choice. I picked up Master of Orion:Battle for Antares for $7 at Sam's the other day. It was pretty boring.
Those empire building games are the ones I like the best.

I agree...

My sister and I used to play this game on the computer a LONG time ago, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name.
You could pick your crew (there was a grashopper-like dude, a robot, humanoid, etc) and then your job was to collect various minerals to be used for fuel on your home planet.
You could analyze a planet before you landed, cheking the levels of oxygen and the weather conditions before landing. You could probe the planet to check if it had high levels of certain minerals, etc. Also, you could be attacked by various life forms and even killed.
The graphics were virtually non-existant, but the game really was great exercise for the brain.

I think there was even a Dr. Who series of episodes that dealt with the piecing together of an artifact, a key if I remember correctly....

My brother got Risk for the computer. The games predicides the winner. And if you are destined to loose, you loose. I had 65 armies on Alaska. The "predestinated" winner had 5 armies in Russia. He attacks. I loose all 65, he looses 1. I'm taking that game to Vegas with me.

What kind of a game is Empire Earth? It's a "build a civilization" kind of game. You start out with some workers, they build buildings and collect resources to advance you to the next age of civilization. Empire Earth is pretty complex in that you can advance through 13 stages of civilization, from prehistoric to cyber-technology.

How far did you get?
