I am expecting, actually, for my Logan the Labrador to be dead some morning. He is 16, and will go first. My neighbor had a cat that was very old. One day I was sitting in my livingroom and I hear this shrieking like bloody murder! I ran out and met my neighbor running to my house hysterical. Apparenty the old kitty had died a natural death and my neighbor found her when she got in from work. I went in and looked while my neighbor waited in the drive and I fixed the cat up so it didn't look so bad (shut it's eyes and mouth) and brought my neighbor back in and encouraged her to basically say goodbye. She really composed herself after that and we took the kitty and buried it near our bench out in our garden. We planted calladiums all around it.
Years later, after we moved, my neighbor told me that the landlord came in and bulldozed our garden flat. But every year, the calladiums came back.

Thanks for the anniversary good wishes! I'm fixing to take our daughter to Girl Scouts, so I'm gonna go by a restaurant I've been wanting to try. They post their menus, different ones each week, so I'll see if there's anything that looks good. If not, we'll go to a Thai restaurant we like.
I still have to get the apples for that pie! Well, maybe I'll wait til tomorrow for that. We can ALL go to the orchard, then come home and the kids can prepare the apples with our corer/slicer/peeler!

*grin* Nice one.

I sure wish they'd catch this fellow.
My mom thinks it's some guy that has access to the white van only during the week...like a work vehicle. There were no shootings during the weekend, were there?

And if that weren't scary enough, I wonder how long it will be before we get copycat snipers across the nation?
Between the threat from the Middle East and the run-of-the-mill wackjobs, it truly is a dangerous business walking out your front door these days.

I saw that post.... but I have not heard anything about it on MSNBC... I don't know if it is accurate or not, folk are jumpy, and rightly so.

Sweet mercy...that's quite a luncheon! I've been out on the road for a while now, and I've got a crackin hunger, if you take my meaning. Some pork sammiches would sure hit the spot.
Thankey...thankey kindly.

What's the number for AOL to call and cancel? Do they give you any grief?
To: 2Jedismom
No, there were none over the weekend. You could be right. It could be some sort of delivery run between Fredericksburg, VA and Montgomery County, MD...
To: 2Jedismom
Do they give you any grief? AOL is grief. You can find the number on the site, but you've got to dig for it.
To: Corin Stormhands
Right...he's in the area anyway...his work sends him there.
To: 2Jedismom
The number to call and cancel AOL is 800-827-6364.
Good luck!

There was a guy on the Today show this a.m. that said the "I am God" thing and the pinpoint accuracy leads him to believe this could be influenced by a video game...

While Seamus is eating...let me field this one.
I think we're being set up for a grand attack...something similar to 9-11. While a small handful of terrorists are sniping innocent people, (completely occupying Virginia, DC, and Maryland L.E.O.'s), there's probably another cell planning to strike while everyone's paying attention to white minivans.
A few more snipes like this, and traffic will be crippled on Columbus Day Weekend.
I have no reason to NOT suspect filthy arab extremists...especially when the Buffalo 6 were talking about a "Big Meal".

Hey, no precious, but I got a bundle of threes!!!
To: Corin Stormhands
ruh roh....looks like cable is on the blink here....i'll be back when trouble is over...

Not sure what the # is, but they'll harrass you for 10-15 minutes about why you're leaving. They'll stop just short of begging, and even then...that's not the end of it.
When I left AOHell, it was a half-hour phone call, followed up by repeated telemarketing of them trying to "win me back"....then the mailings started. I now get a TRY AOL FREE disk in my snail mail at least once a week. They make good coasters.
Not trying to scare you...just letting you know how irritating they can get.

What ISP did you switch to? I use AOL as my ISP, but not as my browser. I feel like I'm in a carnival surfing on that one.

every year, the calladiums came back. That is so sweet. I love stuff like that.
Realistically, if Logan dies here at home, I will need help. He weighs 90 pounds, and even though I can lift him (I lift him up and down out of the truck now) I don't know that I could under those circumstances. I hope my Dad and brother are prepared to come down here!
But when Bay's time comes, even they will not be able to help me. I don't know whether I will want to be here if/when he is put to sleep or not, because I can't yet foresee the circumstances, but I know that I don't want to see his body handled. None of the ways of moving a 1200 pound dead horse allow for much dignity, whether one is burying him or just having the rendering truck pick him up.
I was present when a friend's old horse was put down. Emotionally, he couldn't be there. I gave him another option months before it was time, that someone who cared about Bo should be there, but it didn't have to be him - that I would come down and be there instead. So he called, and said it was time, and then left for the day, and I went down an hour before the vet was to come and fed him a whole bag of carrots! (who cares about tummy aches, anyway?) The act was pleasant enough, he got sleepy and laid down. But I am glad my friend was gone when the rendering truck came. I will have to make that decision someday, and I hope I have someone (either my friend or someone else) who will oversee at least that part for me, like I did for my friend.
