PJ's LoTR = job well done.Agreed. 99 out of 100. All of our little quibbles added up together make up the 1% detraction to a most fabulous movie series. Here's hoping the Acadamy Awards see it that way next time around....

I would LOVE to spend a year or two among the REAL elves at Rivendell, listening to all the talk and music, learning as much as I could from them.Well, so would I Rosie, if they were REAL.....hmmmm maybe Destructo was onto something.....I'm just trying to have a little fun...;^)

One gets the impression that, if the average swordsman came upon a solitary Orc, he would be revolted and saddened, but not particularly threatened. In numbers, however, they are the overwhelming masses of bureaucratic evil: the nameless, faceless denizens of the dark, tied to their Lord by mutual hatred and fear, rather than by loyalty and love. We are the Orc. Resistance is Futile...

You guys back ALL elvesOops! Make that BASH! (I'm one of the ones that backs 'em, book elves anyway...)

I was talking to my hubby last night about Tom Bombadil (that's where he is in FoTR, the slowpoke) and he said that he really wished that PJ had put it in the movie.
I agreed with him, because Tom is such a likeable fellow, but it would have added at least another 20 minutes to the movie and Tom's role was confined to that one moment in all of the trilogy. So, sadly, Tom had to merry dol, derry dol out of the picture.

You are just sitting on the fence Rosie...
You are either with us, or against us!

PJ's creative license more than likely sparked more than a few people to pick up the LoTR books. My son is one of them. After the first time we saw the movie (he was 12), he said "Wow! This is better than Potter, I'm gonna get the books!"
To: RMDupree
Yes, I admit to liking Tom Bombadil too, but I have to be careful who hears me say that.....
He's a little bit too elf-like, if you know what I mean....
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
You mean elves aren't REAL??? But I thought...I mean...you're joking, right?
Smart aleck dwarf...;-)

Girl stuff. Not if you add rude noisemaking...
To: RMDupree
I am kind of glad he wasn't in the film because I can't picture anyone playing him that wouldn't look gay.
The actor who played Mr. Edwards in Little House on the prairie is who I picture, but I think he is dead.
(Getting dressed now)

Exactly my point. PJ pushed people into reading classics, NOT the latest craze.
After reading Harry Potter, I saw the movie and although it was well done, I am not eagerly anticipating the next movie.
Yet, I am beside myself waiting for TTT to come out!!
To: Corin Stormhands
rude noisemaking during the event, or after?
To: HairOfTheDog
You are either with us, or against us!I am completely FOR the book elves...
I am mostly AGAINST the movie elves (Legolas excepted, and I don't mind Arwen and Galadriel much).
To: RosieCotton
I'm lucky in that I'm in perhaps the most conservative county in the state... Yeah, but I bet my saying that about my county in Virginia and you're saying that about your county in Vermont are still two different things...;-)

Is it time to sneak yet?
