Ewww. Are you from Pittsburgh? Because that sounds like a Pittsburgh-style "food".

Ah. German is not so bizarre as Polish, which is what the weird Pittsburgh food mostly is.

Pierogies are... mashed potatoes wrapped in dough. Ham barbeque is... chipped ham covered in barbeque sauce. I am not kidding. It's absolutely vile, and the first time I saw it I could not believe it. Hot dogs around here are eaten covered in kraut. More kraut than dog. I love this area, we have wonderful weather and it's beautiful, but gosh! we have to import the food.

oooh, lots of Poles where I grew up too! I always put kraut on my hot dogs (except when I put chili on them). mmmm, Polska kielbasa, that's good eatin'!

Now I'm getting hungry, and I just ate dinner!

The church we attended in DC was inter-denominational, but affiliated with the Mennonites. One of our friends favorite dishes was pigs stomach. She said it's what her mom always fixed for birthday dinners...ick...

Hey...I LIKE Pierogies. And kraut...one of the things I liked best about Germany! Kielbasa is good stuff, too...especially with kraut and potatoes.

Different tastes for different folks, I guess! (Or as my Dad would say...more for us!)

Good morning, everyone! Time for second breakfast, right? We had our second choir practice last night, which went better than the first because I went to the tenor section right away instead of even attempting alto. I was the only girl in that section this time, though...last week a couple of women sang tenor because none of the "real" tenors showed, but this week there were three of them. I'm still learning the pieces, so I spent a lot of time being lost, but otherwise it was fun. There's a library up at the college there that's open late, so I finally found a way to squeeze library time into my schedule! I went over there after the practice. I had a card there at one point and my name is still in their system, so I checked out Northanger Abbey/Persuasion (both in one book). I think I've read at least one of them before, but not for awhile and I love Jane Austen!

On the way home I stopped and got some coffee - they have a grinder at the store so you don't have to do it at home. Made my car smell like a wonderful coffee house on the way home!

I will check on LCS tonight. I don't have his contact info here at work.

*gasp!* You don't suppose he was a victim of the latest purge do you?

No. Last I checked his page was still active. But he hasn't posted since 9/12. Besides, if he was banned, I think he's show up on the Yahoo site to let us know.
