Good morning everyone...
Sitting in the dark and listening to the rain here, love that sound.
Since Fay is stalled out in the Gulf, she's sending wave after wave of rain ashore, even as far as Austin... flood watches already up all over Central and Coastal Texas. Got a feeling this isn't going to be good for a lot of people.
But I still like hearing the rain... have a good day all!
To: Sam Cree
Ah! - Well in that case, L'shanah tovah! ("for a good year")
To: Sam Cree
Well then, Happy New Year!
And Good Morning! :)
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I think we would like the rain here even if it brough a bit of flooding. I am good enough with boats, this dust is getting me nowhere!
To: HairOfTheDog
Well it is up to 80 degrees here and some rivers are at flood levels with all of the recent rain, including Eduoard. FOTR is now playing on pay-per-view TV here. Is anyone going to be watching the new version of
The Lathe of Heaven on A&E tomorrow?
I have gone to the nasty thread, and am having a flamewar with the author. I have just suggested to him that his actions make clear his fellowship with the most famous hero of the Revolutionary War Battle of Saratoga, the one whose statue was chipped out of the monument.

Well, sure, but y'all are supposed to get rain up there... Central Texas gets more than a couple of inches of rain and it all wants to wash away!
We had planned to make a trip to downtown Austin tonight to visit a friend, but we may have to put it off as we'd have to cross too many areas where flooding can occur...

Is anyone going to be watching the new version of The Lathe of Heaven on A&E tomorrowWe would like to watch it, but it's Football Day tomorrow. I'm pretty sure A&E will replay it later, though, so we'll catch it eventually.
To: HairOfTheDog
By the way, the BADJOE thread is nasty enough that it has been moved to The Smokey Backroom. Good, if he keeps this stuff up, I can up the ante now.

Good Morning!
Not sure what I'll be doing. I'll be commuting to my garden in a little bit....do some weeding, clearing, picking grapes, hang out....let cats in and out.
Got a feeling this isn't going to be good for a lot of people.
You can send that stuff this way....we still need water.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Oh Stop it..... you don't need any upped antes!
And have a nice Saturday!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I'm pretty sure A&E will replay it laterEvery Day between this Sunday and the next Sunday, except for Tuesday and Wednesday, which will likely be all 9/11 stuff.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I know, but we aren't getting the rain we are supposed to get! We need it!
To: HairOfTheDog
you don't need any upped antes! Shucks, how can I win at poker or The Smokey Backroom without upping the ante! You won't let me have any fun!!
To: HairOfTheDog; Overtaxed
The really twisted thing is, this is the first significant rain we've had since the rain that caused flooding in June. So, we were actually behind on our rainfall total for the year. This is going to catch us up pretty quick though.

Every Day between this Sunday and the next SundayI had thought that would be the case, A&E likes to get a lot of play out of their special productions. Did you ever see the Hornblower mini-series they did? I thought it was quite good!

Did you ever see the Hornblower mini-series they did? I liked the part where Capt. Pellew ate the maggot biscuit.
To: Overtaxed
Yum, extra protein!
All 6 movies are available in a DVD boxed set, by the way...
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I'll check it out! My sister's a big Hornblower fan

Did you ever see the Hornblower mini-series they did? I thought it was quite good!Yep, both years. I keep hoping they will continue it. I liked the one with the attempt to start a royalist revolt against Revolutionary France, with both idealistic and fanatic royalists and revolutionaries, with the Brits trying to be rational and do their job.
Remiscent of the series on PBS about the British soldier Sharpe fighting against Napoleon in Spain, starring Boromir.

I just started Fiddler again... I think it is appropriate since it is Rosh Hashanah and everything!
And since Saturday is my traditional day to do housekeeping, I think I am going to go tidy up my drawers!
Who must know the way to make a proper home?
