Well, if slave reparations ever passes the Congress, I'm going to owe my wife big time....
To: Corin Stormhands
I'm just glad my ancestors had the sense to leave that loser continent.
To: Overtaxed
Does he win this one?I don't know, I don't remember, judgement is coming up in 10 minutes, and I'm too lazy to go to the website to look it up. :)
it says that Iron Chef Chen had the most losses
Chen also has the most wins, IIRC... he's the only original Iron Chef, so he has the most battles, period.

Good thing it's not the the 1700's, you'd be at war with yourself. The Three Faces of Corin comes on later tonite on TNT.

he's the only original Iron Chef, so he has the most battles, period. That makes sense. BTW...that Iron Chef book has recipes....well part of the recipes. It gives you the ingredients but not the ammounts. I've always wanted to try making that chocolate pasta.

Oh, dear. I just found out that I really, really, really want to go to Stanford. And so do, oh, a thousand other students a year. Ouch. But their programs... and their faculty... and... man, I should have been working on this since my sophomore year - of high school!
of course, that year I was 14 and didn't know I would be going to college at all, but still.

Dale Jr. wins....Sakai loses.

Give our Hobbit regards to Saddam! Nah, just push him into the Cracks of Doom and set out for home. We'll send the Eagles.

I think an Iron Chef cookbook would be a moderately good seller. Some of the stuff I wouldn't want to taste, but some of it looks delicious.
A few weeks ago they had two 2-hour special episodes on back-to-back on a Sunday night. One of them was the 2000th recipe battle. As part of the show, they had the Chairman list the 5 best recipes, and the 3 worst.
Oh, Sakai lost the matsutake mushroom battle, the challenger won!

I wish they'd do one with ground beef as the ingredient. I need some new menu ideas.
To: Overtaxed
I wish they'd do one with ground beef as the ingredient.LOL, that would be fun to watch. What would, oh, Morimoto come up with?
By the way, TS Fay is expected to move ashore tonight and move into central Texas tomorrow night... battening down for rain, storms, possible flooding, and general mayhem...
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
What is the wind speed on Fay?
To: Overtaxed
Here's the latest on Fay. Sustained winds at 60 mph, center currently stationary about 105 miles southeast of Galveston. Could possibly strengthen to hurricane status, but right now the main worry is that it's slow moving... could just keep pulling more and more rain up from the Gulf and sending it inland...
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
So you're just expecting lots of rain in Austin? Or do you need the hurricane to do list?
To: Overtaxed
Yep, only expecting lots of rain, which of course could lead to flooding, but our house is on high ground. Not expecting any high wind damage this far inland, although it's always possible the storm could start spinning off tornadoes. We're as ready as can be for that kind of event, though.

Yawn. I just read "Colorado School of Mines" as "School of Mimes". Time for bed...

They got turned around at Poitiers, and not much farther than the Byzantine Empire, on the other sideRight about the West extent, although it was Tours, and the victory went to Charlemagne's grandfather. The Saracens said it was a raid, after they lost, the Franks that it was an invasion, after they won. Me, I will wait for the videotape.
As for the Byzantine Empire, the Saracens took Libya, Sicily, Egypt, Palestine, Syria, and eastern Asia Minor from the Byzantines. About half a millenium later, the Turks took the rest of Asia Minor, Cyprus, Crete, Greece, all of the Balkans, and most of Hungary, the latter two were from independent states, as well as the Empire.
These days, the Islamicists want all territories ever under Moslem rule to return to that rule. That includes Spain, Sicily, southern Italy, India, and all of the Balkans, Israel is only their first target.
