*I'm* a bigger fan of Harry Potter than my daughter is simply because Rowlings makes me laugh (she has a really great sense of humor and I have always held the view that much of the 'magic' she throws in there is tongue-in-cheek.) On top of that, she introduces a LOT of mythology and history into a new format that I believe actually educates them. For instance, *I* dont ever remember reading about the Philosopher's Stone in any book I had in school, yet, the Philosopher's Stone was the end theory of a lot of medieval and early Renaissance thought. It leads to so much more.
She obviously loves including a lot of the classical mythological characters/creatures...and anyone who sneezes, much less screams, about that is someone who is a woefully bereft of thought and intelligence. How can so many of them sit there and wail about how its destroying Western Christianity, and then act like ancient Greece and ancient Rome had nothing to do with Christianity????
Best way *I* describe these people is that they are dry bread. No flavor, no freshness, no life to them at all. Their view of the world is toast.
Have you got a Minnesota accent yet? :)
...or say perhaps, dropping a pebble into a dark dank well???
...or pilfering a crystal ball out from under the elbow of a wizard?
...or breaking oath to save someone's life?
Tell whoever wrote that there is a little hobbit I would like to introduce him to. He's as fierce as a dragon in a pinch, when he's not enjoying the finer things of life, like food and cheer.
Except Dahl had much more talent.
We just have such tempermental weather! - It is notable that a few weeks ago it was 85 and now it is 39 at night!
...And the earth, she's flat I tell you!
He wanted to take a middle of the road approach. He wasnt so much worried about the magical aspect of Harry Potter as he was the ethical message, i.e. it is ok to lie in certain situations, it is ok to cheat in certain situations, etc. I am still up in the air. I havent read them and my kids havent read them because I havent read them.
He cleaned them out and says it looks like a chronic infection. He reminded me (I'd forgotten) that we treated something similar last year.
So he says to me, he says, "we'll give you some medicine and some antihistimines in case it's an allergy and we'll treat him daily, then weekly then down to twice a month, but this will be an ongoing thing..."
Should I believe all of that?
And what do I do if the dog is allergic to the kids?
Find a good home for them that doesn't have dogs?
