Thanks! I had a mental picture of me slouched in my chair, eyes glazed, while my right index finger, with a life of it's own, kept that mouse scrolling, despite the drool from my mouth...and gutteral noises coming from somewhere deep in my chest..."One more post...just one more post..that's all I need...one more...". Thanks to you, that can now be just a bad script...

It is a scary image... I hope you have an ergonomic mouse, you have a lot of catching up to do... could be dangerous!

... and all of it close up... And even minor injuries could be fatal

I think a punctured abomen would have usually been fatal in those days (within a day or so), would be today without quick treatment. The close up fighing, I would think, could be many times more intense than shooting at a distance, though I believe that also is certainly much more than intense enough.

The battles are fought with tremendous style by our heroes, and in Legolas, also grace.

I agree with that and also they fought with terrific ferocity and deadliness.

I also consider modern personal weapons, such as rifles or shotguns to be companions and, often, works or art and heirlooms. Mr. Cooper likens the rifle to the lightning bolts of Zeus and gives personal weapons credit for bringing man "up out of the mud" and into civilization.

Did anything happen? hmmm... not really I spose. New TTT thread in the Hobbit Topic... That is about it. Been watching the Eagle Cam today while I FReep around... Check out that Eagle cam link above... it is pretty neat... the two eagles trade off sitting on the eggs, you see them fly in and out doing eagle things.

That eagle.cam is cool.

I don't think anyone in LOTR dies of infection from sword, axe, or arrow wounds. Guess the elves can fix stuff like that.

The elves are skilled in that, and Aragorn knows a little about healing also. The injured orcs, of course did not live long enough to be concerned about infection.

Yeah - I am hooked on this eagle cam... Did you see the eggs a bit ago when they traded places? The eggs are due to hatch next week. - It is quite windy here today (I am 40 miles away from this nest)... You can see the eagle that is sitting the nest now really hunkering down to stay out of the wind.

Could even see the tree swaying in the wind. I guess the Dad eagle is Gwahir, right?

Remember the orcs even had their own medication? They smeared Merry's forehead wound with a dark substance in a wooden box. It healed him quickly, but he bore a brown scare for the rest of his days.

I start the stewed rabbit in about an hour. I have all the herbs I need, except no fresh thyme. It'll have to be dried thyme.

The eagle that is sitting is getting restless and looking around alot... that usually means the honey is coming back... look for a switch soon!

Are you reading your family the pertinent chapter to prepare them to enjoy the complete experience of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit?

My goodness it is super windy now - gusts to 45... I hope that nest is well attached! I am worried about her sitting up there. She looks like a pretty cold eagle.

She needs a nice comfy elven cloak, I think she's getting impatient waiting.

She does look impatient and dissatisfied. Well, as a pilot, I know that landings are dangerous in this kind of wind too... I hope they are both careful!

Perhaps 2JM will let him bring back some of her coney stew, Mrs. Gwahir looks like she'll want something more than raw fish for dinner!

You bet I have!

Just finished browning the rabbit lightly and have now added it to the stock pot with water. The herbs are tied in bunches with string. I'll add them when the water begins to boil, then cut it down to a simmer for about an hour. I plan on salting a few minutes before serving. Any other tips anyone?

I would not dream of giving you cooking tips... I will be having a salami and cheese sandwich for dinner. If I get really ambitious, I may heat it up.
