A painfully obvious statement, but one that is little heeded in today's fast paced world...
I opened the door to find Matthew piled up in the bottom bunk with Joshua reading a book out loud to him!
Good goin' 2JM... Rebecca reads Jake stories by nitelite after we put them to bed... kids that are raised like this have a real sense of family, and what it means to be close...
The Marine in me just wants to hold reville at yer house at 0400... Mrs. g'nad starts them at 0830 after chores, and is done by noon...they're only 6 and 4 so it's pretty easy...we'll see how long we can keep doin' the morning program...
My cat must be a Marine.

Well get a move on or we'll have to defend Helm's Deep without you!
At first, it seemed like debris. Large objects were falling from the top of the World Trade Center's north tower, just a few minutes after American Airlines Flight 11 hit.The sight of people plunging from the north tower compelled hundreds in the south tower to flee before the second jet struck the building. Richard Drew, AP
"It took three or four to realize: They were people," says James Logozzo, who had gathered with co-workers in a Morgan Stanley boardroom on the 72nd floor of the south tower, just 120 feet away from the north tower. "Then this one woman fell."
She fell closer to the south tower, he recalls. Logozzo saw her face. She had dark hair and olive skin, a white blouse and black skirt. She fell with her back to the ground, flat, staring up.
"The look on her face was shock. She wasn't screaming. It was slow motion. When she hit, there was nothing left," Logozzo says.
Logozzo cried, "Oh my God!" and raced for the stairs. When he got to the street 45 minutes later, he looked up. By then, his building had been struck by United Airlines Flight 175. From the ground, he saw two more people jump. This time, they were from his building.
The story of the victims who jumped to their deaths is the most sensitive aspect of the Sept. 11 tragedy. Photographs of people falling to their deaths shocked the nation. Most newspapers and magazines ran only one or two photos, then published no more. USA TODAY ran one photo Nov. 16.
Still, the images resonate. Many who survived or witnessed the attack say the sight of victims jumping is their most haunting memory of that day.
It was worse than people realize........
Never forget.
If I missed you in my ping, I am sorry.
And they wonder why we fight...
Thanks Kevin for that sobering reminder. I'm sitting here after reading that fighting back the tears once again.
Every American should read that. Every American should view the footage, look at the pictures, hear the sounds once again.
NEVER forget.
I don't. Thanks for being in the thick of it g'nad.
Yup, me too.
But you could be at anytime.
Same here. I wish that more Americans felt that way. 'scuse my language, but to hell with what the rest of the world thinks. We've pulled their sorry butts out of the fire time after time and all they do is spit on us...
Let's go hunt some terrorists...
Yeah, and you'd get yer hide jumped on by ALL members of the household. We're all late nighters and late risers; since we've been h/sing anyway. We just like to hang out in the evenings, then say prayers and read about 10 or 11. Sir SuziQ's job is flexible as far as time goes, unless there's a meeting or something.
We're trying to shift the going to bed time to an earlier hour during the fall. It is so hard in the summer when it is still light outside til late, not that we're outside, mind you, but the light is still there! The biggest problem is, our daughter is a night-owl like her Momma!
We were watching it LIVE last 9/11, g'nad. When I saw those bodies falling I just wanted to SCREAM. I knew then that Osama's a$$ was grass and Dubya was going to send in the lawnmowers.
I hope the 'Remembrances' won't be just maudlin affairs; we need to re-stoke that righteous anger we all felt as we watched those towers fall and knew all those people were dead after we had watched the planes going into the building and knew all those possengers were dead!
