I have more
uh
research to do now Didn't you say before that Uncle Threadkiller was a demented hermit? How does the "demented" part come in?
To: 2Jedismom
Hey OT...how do you make that little tiny font? < font size=1 > type your stuff here < /font > only don't put spaces after < or before >.
To: Overtaxed
No. I said that my recollection was that he was a "semi-demented dwarf". That was just my off-the-cuff recalling of a childhood story. Now upon reading the source documents as a mature dwarf, I see that the "semi-demented" part was merely a childish interpretation. But, hey, don't you think after suffering what he did, he was at least temporarily semi-demented before he came to terms with it?
I will scour additional documentation to see if I can shed light on this.... I don't pretend to know all the exhaustive details of the story. Yet.

Well, I'm a great-aunt! My husband's niece had a baby! It was quite a surprise...but she's engaged to father, thank goodness. Apparently she had no indication that anything was amiss (no monthly changes, so to speak) and when she doubled over in pain, her mother rushed her to the hospital, thinking appendix. Later on, she had a "healthy" 5 pound baby boy.
The baby was born on the 22nd.
The rest of us were born yesterday.

Yes, I have heard of this before. Apparently the monthly cycle stays the same and the young woman never has a clue that anything is amiss...
It frequently occurs with young unmarried women. For some reason, it is extremely uncommon for this to happen with married women and never with women that are actively trying to have a baby.
Does anyone have some waterfront property to sell me in Arizona?
To: 2Jedismom
Sounds rather unconventional, but congratulations anyway! I take it the mother is doing OK?
And now you know how to make sarcastic asides, too!
To: Corin Stormhands
Thanks! Did you pick up on the little secret of the story? Extra points if you do....
To: RosieCotton
LOL! Yes, Overtaxed has taught me how!
I guess everything is ok. I know that the mother drinks quite a bit (she's maybe 21 or 22 years old...so did I at that age) so the birthweight being low worries me...but we just found out about it this afternoon.
We saw her at my FIL's funeral back in March, you know? But not this last visit...in June. She didn't come around for some reason.
The lack of prenatal care is what upsets me the most. I suspect this young lady knew what was going on all along and hopefully she didn't drink. But I'm pretty sure the baby didn't get any prenatal care.
In that family, it's a miracle she didn't abort it, so Steve and I have reason to praise God.

Personally, it's the being taken for a moron that bothers me the most.
You know, it's just by the grace of God that something like this didn't happen to me. But if it had, I wouldn't have tried to tell someone it was a complete surprise and I sure would have taken resposiblity and gotten prenatal care.

I'm glad to see it was the dwarves who first noticed my little attempt at levity. Or should I say, ytivel, in the ancient dwarven tongue?
