I hate to be a true sneak -- and a perfect Gollum, but have any of you see Road to Perdition yet? I did, and I think I witnessed probably the film that will win the Academy Award for best picture, director, soundtrack, actor, supporting actor, cinematography, and screen play.
Before you banish me to Took Corner, go and see it and tell me if you agree.
I highly recommend it. Tom Hanks is fantastic. He will break your heart.

I am absolutely a major player. Besides Gandalf, I am the only one to be in all 4 books... including The Hobbit. Hmmmmm....I seem to remember another story where a "central" character had an issue with pride...hmmmm....now where was that....?????

Yes! It's called my poor life... but it doesn't change fact that I, Smeagol, a hobbit from Stoor, saved the world.
It really galls me though that Aragorn crowned Sam and Frodo... they couldn't find their way to Mt. Doom if the road was paved with good intentions. It took a sneak... an thieving sneak to show them the way to paradise.
Tonight, all you men in Middle Earth, when you lay your head down on your pillow, remember me, Smeagol! You are not overcome because I am a sneak! Just a sneak... sneaking about Mordor, doing good for me, and saving the world as a by-product.

Have you seen Road to Perdition... it blew me away.No I haven't. I don't go to the movies that often. Actually, I think before FoTR came out the last movie I actually saw in the theatre was Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace.
When RTP comes out on video I will pick it up on your recommendation.

Yes... it took a good 2 to 3 minutes after the credits rolled for the audience to move. The only time I remember a reaction like that was the first time I saw Life Is Beautiful... stunned silence... then tears!
That's another great movie.
