Well, they wouldn't necessarily have to change then end, if we assume P & M were engaged in action we didn't see in FOTR... they could just change the point of view in TTT, so that this time we see what P & M are up to.

I mean... what did he say?

Here's the story.

I don't think the guy asked the girl to get in his car, but it says he asked her to help him find his puppy. He's new to the area...

I mean, he saw her in her front yard, pulled up and could have just innocently said "I've lost my dog. Have you seen him? Will you let me know if you have?"

My guess is it was the child's perception (perhaps rightly so) and I'm also assuming this guy didn't see the Mom coming out. I would have stayed and asked for her help to (unless she was packing heat like 2JM...)

Sure, you can talk to them! They know you and know where you live. Their parents probably know of you at least. I'm talking complete strangers coming up to little kids. If I saw a complete stranger talking to one of my boys over the fence, I'd come out of the house with some sort of weapon.

I only look like a slightly pudgy housewife...

More grumbling from the Stormhands household...

Corin, Jr. (the 13-year-old) has to have ear surgery soon. He's had tubes for a number of years and developed a hole in his ear drum. Surgery requires a skin graft. We knew he couldn't get it wet for several weeks (so we scheduled it at the end of the summer). I had Mrs. Stormhands call this a.m. to clarify exactly what that meant (like if he couldn't wash his hair we were going for the buzz cut).

Turns out, he can't get it wet or have any strenuous physical activity for at least three weeks following the surgery.

Fortunately, we found out before I wrote the check for football tomorrow morning. But we're thinking of postponing this once again until after football season. But what a pain for him...

Sounds like an OK thing to wait and do over winter... unless it is causing him pain now...

Didn't we see that rumor?

Well, the rumor is that the extended release has more fighting at the end...which might include Merry hacking up some arms. That would be...what's the new cool word? SWEET! Or maybe there could be a flash-back, where M and P are telling the three hunters what happened...we might could see some hacking there.

I agree, CS...if it's not bothering him...wait till you have less important things to do. (I can't believe I said that, being an avid football despisor).

Well, we're off to see the movie! I'm going to take Josh's booster seat in so the seat doesn't keep folding up on him! It'll cost a buck fifty for all three of us to go.

unless it is causing him pain now...

Hasn't been a problem since we got him a new set of ear plugs for the pool/shower. I know he wants to get it over with, but we're going to let him make the decision.

I'm pretty sure I'll be writing a check for football tomorrow...

This exchange reminds of something I read by C. S. Lewis. It was in Mere Christianity. Lewis was talking about husbands and wives and the different roles God has for them vis-a-vis the family.

Anyway, the wife, he said, protects the family. She watches out for the kids and her husband and tries to defend them from attacks (verbal and mental not physical). The husband, on the other hand, is to protect the outside world from his wife. ;^)

He then gave an illustration that if you accidently injure little Johnny, who would you rather deal with, little Johnny's mom or little Johnny's dad? ;^)

Well, we're off to see the movie!

A weird sense of relief has washed over me knowing that it will be at least 4 more hours before you see my #16350. ;^)

hehehehe

I had a great boss once who said something similar that could be applyed to families too. It was one of his "team vision" talks we got when the staff were bickering amongst ourselves. Staff were snitching on each other.

He said something like: "Your job is not to turn each other in to me. Your job is to protect each other from me, and protect me from the outside, so I can protect us all."

Hehehe....why do I get this mental picture of M and P ...exaggerating...their deeds in battle?

"Your job is not to turn each other in to me. Your job is to protect each other from me, and protect me from the outside, so I can protect us all."

That's a great line. I'm gonna steal it and use it on my family at an opportune time. ;^)

It was something like that. I get the roles confused sometimes... The middle role in there meant to keep people from going around him and complaining to his boss. I think it was:

"Your job is not to turn each other in to me. Your job is to protect each other from me, protect me from my superiors, so I can protect us all from the outside" I don't remember.... but it was good advice in a catty office.

In a family it could be

Your job is to protect each other from me, and protect me from my wife, so I can protect us all from the outside"

Okay folkses, I got paroled...

We're having friends over for an Italian dinner tonite (mmmm...Italian). Mrs. Stormhands is cooking up the pasta dishes and I'm gettin' out of here early to go buy flowers and bread (mmm...bread)...

I may be back on later tonite...we'll see how freely the vino flows...
