Hmm, maybe it was just the angle I had the screen at. I shall try it again - anyone want to come talk it over? I'll be in the chat room unless something odd comes up.

Since you are lurking around and enjoy them, I captured a couple images of Helms Deep with a little bow action.

(if this image stops working click the same backup link above in my last post)

I really tried to capture the Legolas "ginsu blades of death" sequence, but it is too fast to get anything but a blur with my crude equipment!

The link is dead right now. Would it be possible to put it up briefly at the Yahoo site?

This one appears to be working... but the site warned of a shaky camera.

Here are some stills from the Quicktime file you guys were able to download: http://www.operationsombrero.com/headlines/2002/apr/lotr/TTT/trailer.html

There is only a blank square, thanks for trying. I've seen a shot or two of helm's deep with some bow work in them. Interesting mix of long bows and recurves among the shots on the other sites.

How I long to hear "the delicate, heart-breaking twangs of a mouth-harp and a few shreds of an elvish song":

Row, row, row your elebethiel saliva githiel
Mann a fubar lothario syzygy snafu
O bring back my sucaryl Penna Ariz Fla mass.

Or better still, to hear Lavalier's Lament:

Dago, Dago, Lassi Lima rintintin
Yanqui unicycle ramar rotoroot
Telstar aloha saarinen cloret
Stassen camaro impala desoto?
Gardol oleo telephon lumumba!
Chappaqua havatampa muriel
U canleada horsta wata, bwana,
Butyu canna makit drinque!
Comsat melba rubaiyat nirvana
Garcia y vega hiawatha aloo.
O mithra, mithra, I fain wud lie doon!
Valdaree valdera, que sera, sirrah,

Honi soit la vache qui rit.

April Fools!

I think I broke the chat room trying to load it, but the chat room works again. It was too big, even zipped, because of the other stuff we have there. try to come to the chat room again... we are discussing options.

Sorry John... Not a nice chat room... ecurbh is still trying to fix the trailer. I am going to bed soon. Perhaps by morning we will have no technical difficulties!

Well the trailer is up, but I have not yet been able to figure out why it is not downloading. I'll work on it some more tomorrow.

I went again this evening...my 16th and probably final time (in the theater). My dad wanted to go see it, so I went with him. There was a girl there that said she goes every Monday night, so she had not seen the preview at the end and yelled out loud when they showed Gandalf the White, just like I did the first time I saw it!

There were only about 8 people there total, though...so I won't be surprised if they quit showing it pretty soon.

The only new thing I noticed in the film was Legolas pulling Gandalf back from the edge of the snowy cliff when the avalanche falls after the lightening strike.

Thanks for working on that ecurbh. I am currently queued up to download elsewhere--I am stuck at 15 MB out of 20! Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! How dare people sign off the internet when they go to bed--that is just SO CRUEL!

Anyway, here's hoping we can get a couple of different places to download it from so that everyone will soon have their own, personal version. :)

I saw the movie last night too. TTT is going to be so cool! Aragorn looks like he's not going to take anymore crap. I don't know if I like Gandalf with Saruman hair and wish they had shown more of Treebeard (Hmmmmm Hoom!) I didn't see Gollum in that shot of the Dead Marshes (was it Penny who asked about that?) and Theoden is going to be great.

From the actual movie...Gandalf is not wearing his Ring of Power on the Bridge at Khazad Dum and there were 2, maybe 3 "elk bugles" (most of the BR screams were those high-pitched ones.)

I know about the Gandalf hair thing, but remember...it says in the book that they look very much alike after Gandalf comes back..."alike, but not alike" So, although I didn't like it (because I don't like Saruman), I can see that making him look so very much like Saruman was once again just what the book said! I think we're going to see from Gandalf's behavior that he's nothing at all like Saruman, except for a similar hairdo.

Did you see Merry's bloody forehead? The fact that they stuck to the book with that as well makes me so happy! Just a little thing, but means a lot to me. Now if they will just show the orc rubbing that dark substance into it...I'll be in heaven!

..."alike, but not alike"

Gandalf's beard might be whiter, but it's still scraggly looking. :) Yes, I noticed Merry's cut, but aren't they doing the whole "meet Treebeard" wrong?

They are definately doing the meeting of Treebeard differently... but since it is so very cute, I am OK with it so far... think of it as the difference in the way Merry and Pippin come into the story in the film. We know the truth, but we got over the change.

[grunt] This is a Seattle day for me and I am rushed. May only be able to check in occasionally till tonight!

All of you have a nice day!
