pc camera software? Hmmm....so how does one acquire such software, and how expensive is it?
And thanks for the link! I will bookmark it this time!
To: Penny1
I got Intel's "Create and Share" software with a cheap PC camera that came as a throw-in with my Dell Inspiron (dude.) Wonder if CNET has anything you could download.

I'm trying hard to figure out a way to go this evening. The boys are going to be at Tiger Cubs...

Ohhhh, good thinking!
The problem, of course, is that it needs to somehow work within Windows MP, because that's the only software that will play the Divx video that I have.
:: sigh::
Why are things like this always so much harder to do than you think they'll be?
To: 2Jedismom
Ohhh, I hope you get to!
I thought it wouldn't be as exciting to see it again, but I was still blown away by it. And more images from it are sticking in my brain this time.

Tell your brother in law that I also have read the books too many times to count over the past 27 years and that I also had doubts about whether or not the movie would match up to my imagination. Tell him that I burst into tears when Gandalf rode into the Shire with Frodo. Tell him the only thing I can equate it with is having Jesus walk into the room! I've known Jesus for 30 years and I know he's real, although I've never seen him. I've known the Trilogy for 27 years and
now I've seen it even though I know it isn't real.
He has got to see the movie. Let me know what he thinks when he does. I'm sure he'll love it just as we do. I will always appreciate how PJ maintained that purity.

Here's a page that I pulled up from a CNET search. Maybe there's anything you could use here (but then again, maybe not.)

Yes, keep encouraging him to go. It is silly to not want to hear how others would tell a great tale, and believe me... Everyone who participated in it loves the story as much as he does.
But let him know that he may enjoy it the second time better than he did the first time.
My first time through I enjoyed it, but was nerve-wracked worrying whether every scene would be right. And noting every difference in the story.
The second time, of them all, was my favorite view. Gone was my worry that Jackson wouldn't do it right. I could sit back and let him tell the story his way, and marvel in the beauty of it - and he really does a beautifull job telling the story in just three hours.
Are there changes? - yes. Are lines moved around and characters omitted and events changed slightly? - Yes. But only to make the story fit onto film. And changes were done with caution and care. Do I love all of it equally? - No I suppose not, but parts of it are so perfect I am still brought to tears.
Trust me, brother of MozartLover, if you don't trust your sister, which you should. This movie will captivate you, it will do justice to your story, the movie loves the book, and it will draw you in and break your heart the way the book does.
For Pete's sake, in the time you spent yesterday arguing about it with you sister, you could have just let her take you to see it. You would have wanted to go again by today.
ML - go to ecurbh's trailer page and download some of the trailers. (best is Theatrical Trailer 3) but all of them show different scenes that will convince him. Let him watch those!

Oh, you could mention that I haven't seen a movie at all in at least 14 years, probably longer...and that I've seen this movie 15 times since Dec. 22nd!

Thanks! There are a couple of possibles there...
I downloaded a Divx player, but it says I don't have enough RAM, and then when I opened it, it crashes my system. So I'm thinking about picking up some RAM for my computer. If the player works, maybe it will have a image-capture utility.
...and it's not like I couldn't use more RAM, I only have 48 MB...

Thanks for the input! Will share it with him.

Replace brother and sister with brother-in-law and sister-in-law....

Understood.:)

stupid network...mutter, mutter, mutter

Well, I'm an LotR fanatic, have been since I was eleven. I've read the books at least two dozen times. The movie is not perfect, but it's very very close. Tell him also that I've seen the movie ten times and it hasn't changed my perception of the book at all - except that I can see the details of armor, swords, landscapes etcetera much better now. If this thread doesn't convince him, nothing will, but ask him to give it a shot (two shots, as others have said). It's worth it.
