We haven't had cable for going on 6 months now. We don't even use the rabbit ears. Nobody in the house has missed it, we range in ages from 5 years to 34 years old.

We dropped cable (except for the modem) four or five years ago.

We have the TV on constantly... sometimes 2 or 3 of them through the house. We're not always watching them, but if we're home at least one is usually on.

We have cable too... more than a hundred different channels.

Good Evening ALL! I am home!

Bear, I am most like you... my TV is on prett'near 24 hours a day... often muted, but on. Leave it tuned to MSNBC with the sound off... or I put it on Animal Planet for the dog, she likes that.

Yes I know that the faith should lead me to Fox News, but I just don't like them... MSNBC has better anchors, and IME, better breaking news coverage... except for Phil, who is on at the moment.

"Has anybody here ever seen The Cider House Rules? "

I haven't seen it, but started reading the book (on which I guess it's based) somewhere back in the 80's. It was so depressing, I didn't finish it, a rarity for me.

I wasn't so politically aware back then, so if it was trying to make a point (probably was), I wouldn't have cared, even if I had noticed it.

I had previously read The World According to Garp, by the same author, which I had liked. Not sure if I would still like it.

My TV is usually on all the time...mostly for background noise. I'm usually on TVLand, AMC, TCM, racing, or ballgames. Right now I have on the Tropicana 400 for the second time this week. :)

Home here too, finally... eating dinner and watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on the Action Movie channel. Fabulous movie, by the way... saw it for the first time Saturday night, and I'd recommend it. The swordfighting scenes are incredible!

Anyway, have the same opinion regarding Fox's breaking news coverage here. We do watch the replay of Brit Hume's Special Report every night, though.

I don't think my brother finished the Cider House book either... He said it was r e a l l y s l o w . . . So I never tried it.

Hullo OT! How was your day? Bear didn't like his, and I guess I didn't either 'cuz I was in the city.

It was okay except for when I had to go into the freezer for frozen dirt. :)

Hullo! - Forgot to ping you to the post where I said hullo!

I started leaving it on MSNBC when I started watching Imus in the Morning, which I like... I can't stand the chatty coffee club over at Fox in the morning. If they were in my living room I would shoot them... better the crusty cowboy in the morning for me. When Imus is over, I go into monitor mode and mute it... often play the radio, or a soundtrack ;~D

If I'm home during the weekday, I'll sometimes put it on CNBC to watch the markets fluctuate, or just leave it off... at least until my soaps start. :)

Hope you're around later

I'm here for a few minutes. We've got company coming tonite. I also have four new goldfish. (they don't keep me from freep-time, but the company will) The guy at PetsMart said I probably wasn't changing the water often enough and that's why we lost the others.

The movie struck me as being a propaganda vehicle for the abortion industry.

That's why we've never watched it.

Sounds good to me...

They are talking drizzle tonight... I find it hard to believe that any rain that came down would not bring some thinder with it in this heat!

Well, hi!

Are you going to give the new goldfish new names, or keep the old names?

I've heard of rain. What's it like when water falls from the sky?

It hit 100 here today and water rationing is just around the corner. The Governor held a press conference today to encouge voluntary rationing.

I think I'll let Corin, Jr. decide. He's still out of town (gets back Friday) and doesn't know about the first four.

Well I hope you get some rain soon... sorry you are so parched! I hate being parched. We had bad drought last year, this year is pretty normal... It is rare for us to go two weeks without any rain.
