In the ongoing saga of "why the heck did I agree to be President of the pool association..." we were at a friend's house for dinner last week. The phone rang and it was for me. I thought it was my 13-year-old or his 16-year-old cousin. We'd left them at home with the two-year-old. Startled me, cause they were only supposed to call in an emergency.
It was a pool member with a complaint (the 13-year-old now knows we're to be called only if blood or 911 are involved...). She was po'd because the lifeguard made her daughter and step-son leave the pool.
What she didn't tell me (and I found out later) was that she and her mother (with whom she lives) are the pool members. Her children are not on the membership, so she has to bring them and pay for them as guests, which she did. However, the rules state that the member must be present at all times. She left and, according to the guard in question, was gone for several hours. (member kids, 9 or older can stay without an adult once they've proven they can swim the length of the pool)
She threatened a lawsuit (her daughter is nine, but step-son is 16). So she's getting a strongly worded letter with a copy of the rules (especially the part that says we can revoke her membership).
Not many people get that...he hates those cans...sneak
Depends oh how often they do that. As far as I can remember, my parents left us with younger siblings less than five times throughout our (me and my older sister) teens (and they even fretted about that.)
And another dry day here. We got a good soak Sunday, but we're still way behind.
Maybe you could get Sheila Jackson-Mars-Lee to give an outdoor speech in Austin and have the hot air push that rain front to the east coast...
We do that on a very limited basis. Our 13-year-old is, well, 13. So he can watch his younger brother for short periods of time (Mom runs to the store, etc.), but there's no diaper changing involved and precious little else.
My wife remembers being forced to watch her neices when she was a teenager. Her older sister actually said to her (when she said she had something else to do), "well, if you loved them, you would take care of them." My wife's response was "well, if you loved me, you'd pay me." (It didn't change anything, but that's a whole 'nother book.)
What about parents that... that... hmmm... I guess I don't have any bad parent rants this morning!
Hullo! - Good Morning!
Hope you're happy with your rainfall < /sarcasm >. Around here they're estimating less than 200 days of water left for town water supplies.
Get what?... We don't have a bagel shop within 5 miles of our church...it's a shame...blatant sneakin
The "phonebook" reference.
Pssst...I was bein' facetious...still sneakin
From the rain, or from my edginess? Well, no danger from either one actually... house is on high ground, and my edginess is under control.
Life will be a lot more simple when we can afford two cars again, though. A lot of my edginess stems from trying to arrange my and my wife's schedules to deal with getting to two jobs and run errands using a single auto.
Well, Jesus is supposedly gay...be careful, there's no BARF ALERT...
