I was up late -way to late- last night. Kept waking up in the night. Would be in bed already but I can't put the horses to bed this early and I am afraid I would never wake up if I tried to nap!

Sounds silly for a guy my age to be enjoying fantasy like thatI don't think it sounds silly at all! I expect to be reading fantasy and science fiction all my life. I just hope I find some new writers to read...

Do they need any mail-order brides in Australia? - I wouldn't mind a rough and tumble guy with a charming accent. Steve Erwin has not totally ruined the image for me! - yet.

I'm probably just as glad Cruise wasn't cast in LOTROh, I dunno... they could have cast him as a Hobbit, and they wouldn't have had to use much in the way of special effects to make him look short...

"The re-shoots are all done, now TTT is up to the cutters."
I worried for awhile about TT since I thought I read that Jackson departed more from the book, but somehow I'm now relaxed and confidently anticipating a hell of a movie. Still a little scared, though. Did Christopher Lee say nice things about it?
My family thinks I'm somewhat obsessed over all this LOTR stuff. But I guess they just didn't notice me rereading the thing periodically.

I was up late -way to late- last night. Here too... operating on about 4 hours of sleep. I'm too much of a night person to get used to the idea of going to bed before midnight. Unfortunately, it's required for the job I'm working now, and I'm having trouble adjusting. Will be just as glad when this one is over....

Steve Erwin has not totally ruined the image for me!Did you know his wife is not only American, she's from the northwest? Oregon, I think.
My wife loves to watch Steve Erwin. She likes to cheer on the animals trying to bite him...

"and they wouldn't have had to use much in the way of special effects to make him look short..."
Yeah, and I think Tolkien considered many orcs to be fairly short, also.

Whoo! I love George R R Martin. Well, too much sex, really, but otherwise it's a great series. Except I always skip the bits with Dany, as I can't stand her. Most of the other characters are great, but I get in arguments with people because I refuse to like the Lannisters because they're evil. Even the midget. And I think Sasha got what was coming to her. Martin's one of the best there is right now... have you read Tad William's Otherland? If not, you should.

Yes, that's the hard part. I find better recommendations on FR than anywhere else.
To: Sam Cree
I haven't heard Christopher Lee say anything about it, but I bet he would say nice things! - Why do you ask about him? - Did you hear something?
All of our families think we are a bit obsessed! and who are we to argue?
To: Sam Cree
Ever tried "From Here to Eternity?" A FReeper recommended it ;~D

My family thinks I'm somewhat obsessed over all this LOTR stuff.I'll admit I got a bit obsessed with it, after seeing LOTR:FOTR. For about 3-4 months after seeing it, I didn't read anything other than Tolkien. After finishing The Book of Lost Tales I decided I needed to put it aside for awhile and look at other things again. Still, it was fun to get that deep into it... I hadn't had anything that large to obsess on for a while.

I watch Animal Planet for my Dog... She loves it. and she always loves his show ;~D

I think Tolkien considered many orcs to be fairly short, alsoI think you're right! Cruise may be too good looking to be an orc, though. I think he would have made a good Mouth of Sauron... but then they would have had to use special effects to make him look tall.

Yes, he's the best I've come across in awhile, not everyone can write books that make me stay up too late.
I like Jon, Bran and Arya alot. I do have sympathy for the Imp and even Jaime, as Martin wrote some decent qualities in them along with their evil ones. Don't know how they'll come out of it though. Bran's the closest to being "pure." Getting kind of tired of Dany lately, though.
I'll try Otherland,am always looking for new authors to feed my reading habit.

I watch Animal Planet for my DogWe watch Animal Planet a lot here too... unfortunately, we don't have a dog to blame it on... ;)
To: Sam Cree
Yes, those are the best of the lot. Do you have an opinion of the question of Jon's parentage? Arya's cool. I understand her pretty well. Most of the adults were annoying, and I couldn't get to like Jaime. I just kept thinking of him tossing Bran out the window.

I read, probably on TORN, that Christopher Lee reads LOTR once a year, so you'd think he loves the book and would be upset if the movie misrepresented it somehow.
"and who are we to argue? "
That's true - anyway it's a great and fun obsession IMHO. I do get some weird looks around here, though.

Well, I've got key dents on my forehead, so I guess I'd better go to bed... have a sunset before I leave:
