Hey Hair, Do you (or anyone else) know if those two leftist idiots, Ben and Jerry still own their ice cream company? I keep getting requests for it from the family, but have resisted on principle....seems silly, I know. I'm afraid what answers I'd get if I ask this over at News Activism.

I don't know if they still have an ice cream company! Have you looked at the store? Buy them the ice cream for pete's sake!

I shop based on who sells the best product, not on their politics. I do not want to keep track of how my soup votes, how my toilet paper votes, or how my software votes. Not only is life too short, but they have the right to their view. Change hearts and minds with reason wherever you can, but the boycott thing is meaningless.

See, if you would have asked over in News... they would have supported you.

Ben and Jerry make an very good cookie dough ice cream.

See, you should have been more worried about a Ginsu Hobbit with an ice cream jones... ;)

I did some websearching (thank you Google!) and Ben & Jerry's was sold to Unilever Corp. in 2000; here's a link to a story about the sale from ABC News. Investigating Unilever's website, it looks like they still claim ownership of the Ben & Jerry's brand name. So it should be safe to buy. ;)

Ditto-bump! Of course, if I, say, only read books by conservatives, I'd have, oh, twenty books on my shelves... just because a company is owned by liberal nutcases doesn't mean they make bad ice cream. Buy good ice cream, let the cows sort it out.

It's late, I'm tired, and morning comes early tomorrow... so good night all.

Have a Martian sunset, courtesy of the Pathfinder Mission...

Ooohhh, Mars. I'd like to visit Mars, but it's third on my list - first is our moon, then Ganymede. Imagine Jupiter just hanging in the sky, huge and colorful, just amazing.

Besides... a company that employs hundreds or thousands has a lot of views... I hear Joyce in Accounting is a conservative.

mmmmm... ice cream!

You guys are right, it's impossible to boycott every entity that might disagree w/ me politically. I do try to avoid some of the worst offenders, though. Ben and Jerry, I believe, are very much part of the American Left.

I do listen to Jimmy Buffet songs, liberal or not, I'm convinced he's a nice guy and I like the music, though more for the lyrics than his voice.

I decided to return to art and am currently enrolled in a figure drawing course taught by a 29 year old, classically educated (great masters, etc.) lady who is very liberal politically and occasionally mentions her views in class. Nevertheless, I love her as an art teacher, her enthusiasm for art is boundless and infectious, listening to her talk about it is nothing less than inspiring. Every day, for three and a half hours at a time, she pours her heart out teaching everything she knows, and she knows alot.

Still, in spite of all these well intentioned leftists, I realize that realization of their hopes will destroy our freedom.

Anyway, Bear, good to know a major corporation owns them now, my family's putting up with me, but I feel bad depriving them.

Going to bed so soon before another binary precious, Sam? LOL Me too.

We went to Krispy Kreme tonight, my husband's first time. It was a constant stream of people, but the people at the counter kept up and no one was waiting. They gave us a hot doughnut as soon as we walked up gratis. We got a dozen more and some coffee (milk for the boys). The boys got new paper caps from them and sat waving at the police officer outside while we ate.

Then we came home and I videotaped the boys with their dad shooting off firecrackers in the drive. Then I played some patriotic tunes on my whistle (much to my husband's obvious disgust) and a little kid rode up and asked what I was playing. I told her and she said "Weird!" and rode away. Humph.

So I'm depressed because my hubby despises my whistle playing and nauseated from too much doughnut.

Good night!

"Going to bed so soon before another binary precious, Sam? LOL Me too. "

Yeah, before I think of something else to rant and rave about...

Ate my first Krispy Kreme in awhile today, I'm supposed to be off sugar, but it tasted great.

My kids have always been my life, too. Now they're away at college - kind of bittersweet, miss them, but am proud of them. It always brings a smile to hear about your little ones.

Speaking of patriotic music, I'd like to acquire a good rendition of Battle Hymn of the Republic and Dixie if I could figure out which ones. Perhaps they can be downloaded somewhere?
