Hiya HairOfTheDog. The new Hobbit Hole looks comfy. Someone needs to keep Constitution Day out of the fireworks.

The place does look nice doesn't it, and with one exception, there is a feeling of comeraderie about "the other side". Very welcoming. Sorry we had to put your thread to bed.

Honey, that's cause I'm a "double-nought spy", just like Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies.

Double-naught? Stick-at-naught is more likely, with your habit of bombing innocent Hobbitses! No cheese, wings, or pints for you, sir!

It's just as well. Pints tend to make me gain pounds.

I didn't know the little buggers liked cheese. Or wings for that matter. Shove 'em all under the bar. That's what I say!!!

Personally though I do like hobbits and do love Tolkien. CD's making me say this. LOL!!

I wish the two forums could have been integrated. ...perhaps allowing users to make "General Interest" posts visible/invisible like the "Your Opinions/Questions" category.

It was really your folks' thread -- all that interesting commentary made it what it was. I'm more prone to lurk. No matter, this place will be just as good, if not better. :-)

Old Winyards goes good with Elevenses; those mushrooms made me drool on the keyboard again! Maybe I need a large bib...

I'll try to remember my manners, and not slurp while I eat the seed cakes and sausage...What a great place! And good company, too!

who?

Bakshi: the author of all that is unholy (well, almost). If you haven't already seen it, visit the Tolkien Sarcasm Page's review of the Bakshi version of the film. Also check out their Tolkien Crackpot Theories page.

Ooops - I have just read my chapter for tomorrow and notice that I told everyone wrong. I did not have my notes in order!

The Green Dragon is on Chapter Number 6 - The Old Forest...

Silly me.

I just discovered this thread. And I'm very glad I did! Lord of the Rings is the best series of books ever! If you don't mind I'll post some and join in your discussions, I might be able to gain some insight from you or vise-versa.

Actually, Bilbo and Frodo seemed proficient with maps and even the making of them. It was Pippin who was less than competent with (or was it less than interested in) maps, at least among the Hobbits of the Fellowship, and Merry it turned out had a good deal better recollection of the maps at Rivendell than did Pippin. We can probably safely assume Sam (and most Hobbits in general as they eschewed travel) was, like Pippin, rather cartographically-impaired as well.

Alas for the passing of Tolkein who gave us so much and who was, in my opinion, the greatest author of the 20th Century. Let us hope that he walks now forever, with Beren and Tinuviel and so many other fair folk of whom the world is also bereft, in the Blessed Land, beyond the Sundered Sea.

Thanks again for the pings.

Most of the same folk are involved over there, but we try to be a little more um - focused? You can check out where we have been already here: The Green Dragon Inn... In the old forum. Tomorrow it will be re-posted (pasted) over here in General Interest. (You are new, so I hope those distinctions make sense to you)

Every few hundred posts, depending on how much we had to say about each chapter, you will find a New Chapter Post... We do one chapter per week... and come back here for general chit-chat in between.

Okay, I'll brush up on chapter 6.

Hubby has a question; in the movie, he swears that Aragorn is wearing a ring of some sort. He thought it was one of "the" rings. Is this so? I think not.
