As a guy, I've sometimes wondered (during those long hours waiting at the mall for the gals to finish their gathering rituals) what is the difference (if any) between a purse, a pocketbook (aka pockabook), and a bag? Bag would seem to indicate bigger, but then there's evening bags.

As I had heard it explained one evening....

Men carry bags, women carry purses, but if a man were to empty his bag, and then a woman put her stuff in the bag, the bag becomes a purse. :-)

Evening purse, just big enough for a derringer and a lipstick case.

A+ on your sentence

we are definitely enriching the menfolk with this knowledge....

Of course the rest of them, like me are either bored silly or daydreaming as this droning goes on.

Animadversion -- Isn't that when I am watching one of those Japanese animated movies when I should be doing something else?

Reply # 90 may have a clue. Apparently some mothers insist on being indispensible.

Are those apron strings you're pulling now? Zow!

I think they like us humming more than we like them humming. No, wait, it depends on what the meaning of "humming" is.

The locality is assumed, or given. What's important is the fact or non-fact of the humming.
