Its next-door neighbor, Kenya, adopted many qualities of the British who administered it as a colony for many decades, and Kenya remains a member of the British Commonwealth of Nations. The civilizational difference between the Kenya's Christians and its muslims—and the overwhelmingly muslim populace of Somalia—is striking, even those whom we meet living in the U.S.
Somalia is a failed state with a recent civil war, continuing political instability and great poverty. The “contributions” from Somalis living in other countries is such a significant part of its economy that it is mentioned on Somalia's Wikipedia page.
