North Charleston police arrest four on mob assault charges after Northwoods Mall brawl

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Four women were arrested Thursday after they allegedly assaulted two people while at Northwoods Mall, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

Lyanna Latece Wright, 20, of Goose Creek; Shakira Shaquwon Hickman, 25, of North Charleston; Zamouria Ton’ai Lance, 20, of Summerville; and Shadiyah Kanari Whitaker, 21, of Goose Creek were all arrested and charged with assault and battery by mob.(snip)

One of the victims told officers that she and a male victim were inside the mall near the bathrooms when the altercation began. She reported that the woman who initially started the confrontation left the scene and was known to be the male victim's sister.

A South Carolina Highway Patrol officer who responded to assist stated that the four women in another vehicle claimed that they had been attacked first. The women told officers they were inside the mall during the altercation and that the male victim struck all four of them.

Conversely, video footage obtained by a witness reportedly showed the four women simultaneously attacking the female victim. The footage also showed the male victim being struck as he used his body to shield the woman. The report states.

Officers were able to also note that the victim's face showed injuries including a visibly swollen and bruised eye, and a small cut on her right shoulder.
