The recession actually ended early in the year, though Clinton successfully lied all year, with the help of the media, that it was ongoing, and that it was bad. In June unemployment ticked up. Per the article in the San Jose mercury News, everyone agreed that it was a fluke/ statistical anomaly , but that didn’t prevent them from putting the article on page one with this headline in 64 point type: ECONOMY HITS THE SKIDS
