Heh, I know where you are coming from, but I have a suspicion that the response might lie in the structure of the this famous anecdote about a conversation between Winston Churchill and Bessie Braddock:

BESSIE BRADDOCK: Winston, you are drunk, and what’s more you are disgustingly drunk.

WINSTON CHURCHILL: Bessie, my dear, you are ugly, and what’s more, you are disgustingly ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be disgustingly ugly.

It is no secret that men are notoriously stupid when we are younger. (and yes, I concede, even when we get older)

I tell my wife of my exploits as a stupid boy, teenager, and young man, and she shakes her head in disbelief. It took me a long time to leave recklessness, stupidity, and foolhardiness behind me. When I tell her those things, she can only shake her head. She insists she or the girls she knew never did the risky or stupid things I did.

It's also no secret on the bell curve describing human IQ, that in the extreme tail of that curve as it flattens out and approaches pure genius, males are disproportionately represented. This is known.

What is not as well known is that on that same curve as it flattens out and approaches pure moron, males are also disproportionally represented. (as you can guess, we don't advertise this part much, but if you ever watch any of the "Jackass" movies, or seen that hilarious classic video of the "Butt-rocket Boy" (Note: Do not click on the link if seeing some stupid young guy bare his butt to prove he has the stupidity to do this)

And it is also well known that a lot of men grow out of that crazy behavior. (I have always been a proponent of the belief that women, who mature more quickly than we do, provide a moderating presence in our lives once we stop trying to impress them and chase them around!)

So the people who retort might well follow Churchill's mechanism:

GIRL: Dear boy, you are insanely stupid and reckless, and what’s more you are so disgustingly foolhardy that you don't display the brains to actually vote.

BOY: My dear girl, you are batsh*t crazy and what's more, you definitely shouldn't be allowed to vote, but I will grow up in a few years and learn as a man to be intelligent, circumspect, and careful, and you will still be too bash*t crazy to be allowed to vote.
