A Chicago man who shot a Lyft driver during a carjacking attempt just days after completing a juvenile detention sentence for another carjacking has been sentenced to 15 years, court records show. Deandre Milons was arrested three weeks later after police caught him allegedly carjacking another driver. He received a 10-year sentence in that case.
Milons was a Lyft passenger when he pulled out a gun and ordered the driver out of the car in the 7500 block of South Dorchester Avenue in Grand Crossing on July 10, 2024, prosecutors said. He allegedly racked the slide of the gun and threatened to shoot the 31-year-old driver, who fought back. Milons shot him during the struggle and fled. The victim survived.
Three weeks later, on August 1, Milons allegedly carjacked a 28-year-old woman in the 6500 block of South Vernon Avenue in Woodlawn. Prosecutors said Milons struck the woman in the head, threatened to shoot her, and demanded her phone and keys. The woman never saw a gun, but she complied.

People rate the drivers, drivers rate the passengers?
Unless he stole someone elses phone his identity could easily be determined from the Lyft platform. Also, many drivers have cameras on their passengers. Did he really expect to get away with it?
