The US exported over ten million barrels last year. As I indicated earlier, oil trades internationally: the price is set by the highest marginal bid from anywhere on the globe.
But the point is, the demand for gasoline, home heating oil etc, doesn’t change much based on the price. People still need to heat their houses and drive to work. I don’t think the optional use varies much.
