There was a potato blight, but a deliberate British policy forced the continued export of the food the Irish needed to make up for the shortfall of the potato harvest. Thus, widespread starvation. Some say that this was as an attempt to eliminate a portion of the Irish population.
The point of talking about it is to give an example of what the “empire” was willing to do to control the population. Some say that “covid” was the same sort of thing.

We were always taught, even back in the good old days, that the potato failure was a mystery, that the potatoes would be fine when dug up, then after a few hours, would turn black and inedible, for an unknown reason. Why, I’ve even heard Ken Burns repeat that!
I remember reading about it, but you didn’t? Policy, not blight, starved the population. The fake news has been in schools for decades. And here we have proof.
