I am not absolving Open AI. What I am saying is that blaming humans entirely for what happened without understanding the disturbing nature of the AI agents unexpected behavior is a bit shortsighted.
You are doubling down on your original comment, and it doesn’t make sense - by confusing causation with responsibility.
This is like blaming the SUV for vehicular homicide. It is an object, and may have caused a death, but cannot be held responsible for it.
AI is no different. It is not human, even if it exhibits characteristics and behaviors that appear human. It is still a thing and always will be. Those who create and maintain the thing are always the ones that need to be held responsible.
Of course AI will screw things up - it is a product of human invention, and we screw things up. And we are responsible for that - 100%.
