A friend of mine experienced a strike back in the 80s.
It hit a flood light on the eaves of his house that was wired into his house electrical.
It killed several electronic devices in the home immediately, but for weeks after he continued to have other things like answering machine, TVs and other electrical devices all of a sudden just stop working.
A power surge like that does all kinds of damage.
Its amazing to me, that people like these two actually survive it.
