He’s going to trade some temporary relief, some perhaps psychosomatic or the placebo effect, for chronic constipation for lack of fiber, higher bad cholesterol levels, a deficit of important and necessary vitamins and nutrients and with an exclusively high protein diet with added salt as the “Lion diet recommends, possible kidney damage.
We are not lions who are obligate carnivores. Humans are omnivores.

A few years ago, I attended an offsite work meeting and a co-worker in outside sales, a woman seated at my table was following a very restrictive Paleo diet, an eating plan based on foods similar to what she was told our human ancestors might have eaten during the Paleolithic Era.
She wouldn’t eat any of the food provide at the luncheon but instead opened a can of tuna, a pack of sunflower seeds and a bottle of Fiji Water she brought with her. Fine, to each their own. Do what you want to do, no skin off my nose.
But she then went on and on to lecture everyone at the table on how bad we were eating, and how much healthier her Paleo diet was, how we all should be eating this way.
After listening to her go on and on, I finally said:
“I doubt our Paleolithic ancestors were able to buy canned tuna from Whole Foods. If you really want to live the Paleolithic hunter/gather lifestyle, there’s a stream running next to the hotel, you could fashion a spear out of a small tree branch using a flint to sharpen it and try to spear a fish and build a fire or eat it raw, instead of eating canned tuna, then pick some weeds growing along the bank, find some edible nuts if you’re lucky and drink water right from the stream instead of your bottled Fiji Water and if you do that, enjoy your Giardia duodenalis and enjoy your lower life expectancy...”
Everyone at the table laughed and she left the conference early.
My husband does not have constipation on keto or carnivore.
His cholesterol numbers are finally in the optimal range after 40 years of being high (even when he took statins). He has bloodwork every 6 months and all is good. His arteries look good. His doc was a skeptic years ago, but after a year or so in, he told hubby to keep doing what he’s doing. Same with our current doc.
