I wanted to visit the site in 1997 but it was too early in the year (beginning of June) for it to be open.

I think another Norse site was discovered a few years ago on the west coast of Newfoundland.

The video makes a good case for L'Anse aux Meadows not being Leif Eriksson's Vinland. So where was his Vinland? Elsewhere on Newfoundland? Cape Breton Island? Gaspe Peninsula? New Brunswick? PEI?

The hybrid name, part French and part English, of L'Anse aux Meadows, is kind of appropriate. The Norse raided and settled in both France and England.
