The article didn’t explicitly say so, but seemed to imply the beams from 586 BC were from the Temple. But since they were sycamore wood, they couldn’t be. The Temple beams were cedar.
I read the article looking for clarification, but they didn’t say exactly where they found the beams.
Re-reading the article, I found: “.The beams, made of sycamore wood, were unearthed during a recent dig at the Jerusalem Walls National Park in the City of David….Researchers posited that they served as the roof of an inner courtyard in a building from the First Temple period.”
So, they weren’t from the temple and they were found in the City of David, which is south of the Temple. There’s the clarity I needed.
