I never saw the reason that the "tomahawk chop" the gator chant or any teams with any Indian name or symbol was racist.

I mean if you name your team "The Redskins" or "The Indians" as a symbol of pride in your team, how can that be construed to be racist?

I always interpreted the naming of sports teams and weapons systems with Native American branding as done with honor and respect, not as mocking or degrading.

You’re not going to name your team the “Cucks” or the “Pussies” or your helicopter or missile system the “Dodo”.
